Dr. Grant Norland, DPT, CSCS
Grant Norland is the founder and CEO of Inspired Athletx. He earned a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Truman State University (MO), where he also played quarterback on the football team. Dr. Grant is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA as well as a Certified Golf Fitness and Medical Professional through the Titleist Performance Institute.
Grant specializes in manual physical therapy, sport performance, 3-D motion analysis, and corrective exercise. He has trained and rehabilitated hundreds of area athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional level including, football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, hockey athletes as well as golfers, runners and a variety of other athletes. He has completed extensive post-graduate study in the areas of manual physical therapy and functional movement.
Dr. Grant is also the founder and director of The Quarterback Institute, which brings a unique blend of sport science, training, and coaching to the quarterback development process, while pioneering research in quarterback passing mechanics. Grant has helped to develop many collegiate quarterbacks, has prepared QBs for the NFL combine, and appeared on the emmy-nominated NFL Network docuseries Undrafted in 2015. He combined his unique understanding of biomechanics, physical therapy, sport performance, and quarterback coaching to form the most comprehensive quarterback development program.
Dr. Grant is an expert in movement assessment and functional manual therapy, which enables him to help athletes achieve their peak performance and recover from injuries faster by optimizing the way they move.
Dr. Ranae Norland
Dr. Ranae Norland, DPT
Dr. Ranae Norland is a licensed doctor of physical therapy at Inspired Athletx. She earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa and an undergraduate degree in Biology from Wartburg College (Waverly, IA) where she also excelled as a middle hitter on the volleyball team.
Ranae has extensive post-graduate training in manual physical therapy and has a unique ability to find and treat the small details of movement mechanics that help to achieve optimal results. She has worked extensively with athletes and adult clients including dancers, volleyball players, track athletes, as well as area physicians and other medical professionals.
Dr. Ranae is an expert in manual physical therapy and functional movement training. Her expertise provides her patients and clients with a comprehensive approach to treatment that enables them to achieve results quickly and return to the things they enjoy.
Tyler Yearby, M.Ed., CSCS, CES, PES
Tyler Yearby is the Director of Sport Performance and a partner at Inspired Athletx. He earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota where he was a strength and conditioning coach with the football program for 3 seasons. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and holds many other certifications for training and sport performance. Tyler is originally from Texas where he attended and played football at Allen High School. He earned an undergraduate degree at Northeastern State University (OK), where he also played on the football team for four years.
Tyler is one of the most knowledgeable trainers you will ever meet and is a highly sought-after speaker in the field. He is a master instructor and international presenter for several certification and educational programs as well as the lead instructor for the Inspired Athletx educational seminars. To date, he has taught over 100 courses in a dozen countries around the world. In addition to his course instruction, he has been a featured speaker at strength and conditioning conferences and Olympic training centers.
Tyler is a movement expert and has a unique ability to integrate scientific knowledge of sport performance with a broad base of experiences to provide athletes with an opportunity to achieve maximal gains in the gym and on the field. He has worked with hundreds of elite level athletes to help them improve their movement efficiency and performance while minimizing their risk for injury.
Justin Axelson, CSCS
Justin is passionate about the process of creating opportunities for athletes to reach for and achieve their athletic goals and dreams. He has excellent knowledge and understanding of quality movement as well as the return to sport process following injury.
Justin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Concordia – St. Paul, where he played tight end on the football team and earned “Lifter of the Year” honors in their strength and conditioning program. While at Condordia, Justin completed an internship through the strength and conditioning department, primarily working with the sports of football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball.
Prior to transferring to CSP, Justin began his college football career at North Dakota State University and was a member of back-to-back 2014 & 2015 National Championship teams. NDSU is where Justin’s passion for athlete development began after witnessing a group of seniors become choked-up while delivering goodbye speeches to their strength coaches. He saw the an impact a sport performance coach can have on an athlete and in that moment knew that a career as a coach is what he wanted to pursue.
Jared Siegmund, M.Ed., CSCS, USA-W
Jared Siegmund is an adjunct sport performance coach at Inspired Athletx and currently a strength and conditioning coach for the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. He earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota where he was also completed an internship in the strength and conditioning department. Jared completed an undergraduate degree in health promotion at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where he also played defensive back on the football team for four years. He is a Certified Strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA-CSCS as well as a USA Weightlifting Certified Sport Performance Coach.
Jared has extensive experience working with some of the best athletes in the world, including at the Olympic Training Center, where he worked closely with the U.S. track and field, BMX, rowing, archery, paralympic, and rugby programs. He became the head strength and conditioning coach for the Team USA Women’s Rugby program and remained in that position for four years, including a trip to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Over those four years, the team finished as bronze medalists in the 2013 World Cup, silver medalists at the Pan American games in 2015, and in fifth place at the 2016 Olympics. Jared gained invaluable experience while at the Olympic Training Center in the areas of strength and conditioning, speed development, and the ability to work with an integrated team of professionals toward achieving outcomes for athletes.
Jared is an expert in developing speed and explosiveness in athletes. He has applied his knowledge and experience to get the most out of the hundreds of elite athletes he has trained through his career. Jared also brings a unique understanding of the rehabilitation process and is excellent at bridging the gap between recovery and performance.
Garrett brings a diverse background to Inspired Athletx, having worked with athletes ranging from Division I to Division III schools, as well as at the high-school level. He has developed knowledge of baseball training and athlete development through experiences at Augsburg College, the University of Minnesota, and Hamline University
where he attended, and lettered, as a varsity baseball player four years. While at Hamline, Garret was a member of the school’s first-ever MIAC Conference Championship team in 2011.
Garrett is currently an Assistant Baseball Coach for Dakota County Technical College with previous experience as the head coach for the St. Louis Park Junior Legion Baseball Program, and Assistant Coach for both St. Agnes High School and Excelsior Legion Baseball Programs. He has previously worked at FHIT Baseball’s Minnesota
Advancement Program as both a baseball instructor and a strength coach. He began coaching baseball with Hopkins Babe Ruth Baseball Association in 2010.
Garrett’s personal experiences with playing and coaching baseball have included opportunities to work with some of the best coaches in the country, including Eric Cressey, Cal Deitz, and Sara Wiley of the University of Minnesota.
Katie is the administrative assistant and graphic designer for Inpsired Athletx. She does provides scheduling and reception services to our clients. Katie is a skilled photographer and designs many of the print and media pieces at Inspired Athletx. Katie went to Arizona State University for Graphic Design and also continues to work part time as a Shift supervisor at Starbucks, where she has been dubbed the “Fastest Barista in the Midwest.”
Katie operates a freelance business for Hand Lettering and Graphic Design. She is very passionate about design and typography and continues to pursue additional education in the field. Katie is married to Garrett, our Director of Baseball Development.
